2024/25 garden waste subscriptions open

Derbyshire Dales residents can now sign up to the District Council’s garden waste scheme for 2024/25.

The price for households subscribing to the scheme, now in its 4th year is £56 - the first increase since the scheme was introduced in 2021, though early bird subscribers in year one could claim a one-off discount price of £35.

A Council spokesperson said:

“We have held the price of the garden waste subscription scheme at £50 per bin for the last three years since the scheme was introduced in 2021. During this time we had a change in disposal site for garden waste, due to the sudden closure of the local Vital Earth Facility. Unfortunately this has increased the costs of running the garden waste service.”

Residents who sign up before March 10 will be entered into a draw to have the chance of getting their subscription fee for the year 2024/25 refunded. All subscribers who beat that deadline go into a prize draw, with 20 lucky residents being refunded 1 x £56 subscription fee.

Residents wishing to renew their subscription for the coming year, from 1 April 2024, can do so now at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/gardenwaste or call 01629 761223.

Those who pay by direct debit will have their subscription automatically renewed for 2024/25 at the charge of £56 per subscription.

Subscribers’ 2024/25 orange bin sticker will arrive before 1 April if residents subscribe now.
