Upgrades for Yokecliffe play area

Derbyshire Dales District Council's upgrade of the Yokecliffe play area in Wirksworth is taking shape during Love Parks Week.

The Council has invested more than £5,000 on new trim trail equipment installed by its Clean & Green Team.

The new equipment was chosen by local residents as part of a public consultation earlier this year.

Items new to the play area include a balance beam, log rope, wobble bridge, parallel bars, climbing net, stepping logs and an embankment ramp.

The District Council's Community Development Manager Becky Bryan, who has met at the play area with ward member Councillor Mike Ratcliffe and Clean & Green Team members, said:
"Future plans for the area include working in partnership with Wilder Wirksworth and the Community Payback Scheme to improve the look of the area and to increase biodiversity."
Yokecliffe play areas is one of more than 30 parks and gardens owned and maintained by the District Council across the Derbyshire Dales.

The District Council is staging a number of activities during Love Parks Week, listed on its website at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/loveparksweek2021
