Fun day in the sunshine

The sun shone on an Ashbourne Fun Day held this week at the Highfield Road Recreation Ground, mainly for residents of the Clifton Road estate.

Organised by Derbyshire Dales District Council's sports development team in partnership with Waterloo Housing, the afternoon event was enjoyed by around 80 people.

Completely free to attend, it featured fun activities for all the family including a bouncy castle and soft play area provided by BIG Little Theatre. There were also balance bikes, a smoothie bike and games throughout the afternoon.

A free raffle featured prizes donated by Alton Towers, Clip 'n Climb, Ashbourne Leisure Centre, Ashbourne Fish Bar, Chic and Georgia’s Health & Beauty.

Chairman of Derbyshire Dales District Council's Community & Environment Committee, Councillor Chris Furness said:
"This was a targeted event to benefit families who live on the Clifton Road estate and we have been delighted with the feedback. Everyone had a great time."

Also enjoying the fun were Tracey Silk from Waterloo Housing, local PSCO Elaine Porter and Alistair Bagnall from Freedom Leisure, who promoted the many activities available at Ashbourne Leisure Centre and handed out free passes.
