Rio-themed Xplorer events for Darley Dale park

There’s an Olympics theme as Derbyshire Dales District Council once again stages “navigational challenge” events during the school summer holidays.

Xplorer’ is an exciting outdoor challenge for the whole family to enjoy and is returning after proving popular over the past two years.

Involving a healthy mix of physical activity and decision making, the 2016 Xplorer events will be staged in Darley Dale’s Whitworth Park on 3rd, 17th and 31st August from 2 - 3.30pm.

The Xplorer challenges are free to take part in and this time around feature Rio 2016 themed plaques hidden around the park. The meeting place is in front of the cafe area at the Whitworth Centre.

Chairman of the District Council’s Community & Environment Committee, Councillor Jo Wild said:

“These terrific family events are great fun for everyone, from mums and dads with children in pushchairs to great grandparents.

“No previous experience of map reading is needed and the events are perfect for children, who can run around searching for the secret plaques in a safe and friendly environment.”
