Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are a great opportunity to achieve recognised qualifications, learn new skills and gain valuable work experience.

The District Council usually has a number of apprentices employed at any one time in a range of service areas across the Council.

Anyone living in England, over the age of 16 and not in full-time education can apply. Working 37 hours a week, including either a day release at college or on-site training, the Council pays the Apprentice the National Apprenticeship Rate of Pay plus 10% extra for those aged 20 years and under.

On completion of the Apprenticeship Programme, there may be an opportunity to complete a second year qualification or apply for suitable available vacancies within the Council.

Which departments could I join?

In the past we have employed a number of apprentices in the following areas:

  • Housing
  • Accountancy
  • I.T,
  • Environmental Services
  • Sports Development.

We have also offered a ‘Grand Tour’ Apprenticeship Programme, which is a 13 month opportunity to tour the District Council and experience a number of different departments to gain an increased understanding of what it is we actually do and the services we provide to the Derbyshire Dales and its community.

How do I apply?

Please keep a look out for opportunities as they arise on our recruitment page.

Or, if you're looking for apprenticeship opportunities with other employers check out the National Apprenticeship Service website for vacancies and further information. Good luck!
