Ashbourne walks

Tuesday morning walks (weekly)

  • Walk Leaders: Janet and Glenys
  • Walk description: A very steady walk on good ground with no stiles. In wetter weather we avoid the grass and use local pavements.
  • Time: 10:30am
  • Duration: 45 - 60 mins
  • Meeting point: By the Pavilion on the Recreation Ground.

New walkers are always welcome. Enabling you to build on your fitness and walk or get back to walking in a supportive environment. Whether you haven't walked for a long time or whether you are trying to recover from surgery you will be welcome on this very steady walk in the park. Our walk leaders will ensure you walk at your pace and only for as long as you are able. We sometimes find a cup of tea in a cafe afterwards.

Wednesday morning walks - (weekly)

  • Walk leaders: Jill, Judy, Steve and Arthur
  • Walk description: These longer walks are more challenging and often include open rough country, stiles, longer inclines and steeper hills. You will need to be reasonably fit.
  • Time: 10:30am
  • Duration: 3 hours covering 5-6 miles

Friday Easy morning walks (weekly) - *not currently running*

  • Walk description: A steady walk on rougher footpaths which include stiles and hills.
  • Time: 10:00am
  • Duration: ~2 hours covering about 3-4 miles
  • Meeting point: Ashbourne Leisure Centre car park

New walkers always welcome. Our walking group enjoys walks of about 90-120 minutes The walks may include stiles, up-hill and downhill walking on rougher terrain at a steady pace. We usually walk from the Leisure Centre and sometimes car share to a starting point within 10 or 15 minutes drive from the Leisure Centre or take a bus to or from the walk. Each route is planned by the walk leader before the day, taking into account the weather forecast and conditions underfoot.
