Bakewell Recreation Ground

The Rutland Recreation Ground in Bakewell provides fun and enjoyment for people of all ages. It is set in 5.25 hectares of land, and has great outdoor sporting facilities.

In the south east corner where the river meanders around the edge of the park a new wildflower meadow has been created, a perfect area to sit and relax.

The park is just a few minutes' walk away from the town centre of Bakewell, so you can buy sandwiches and drinks and have a picnic in the summer.

Facilities include:

  • Children's play area
  • Children's splash pad open May to end September (Please note: the splashpad has developed a fault and is currently not working)
  • A multi-use games area (2 tennis courts - nets are up Summer only -Easter to Oct Half Term)
  • To book tennis courts (for free) register for a free LTA advantage membership.

Are BBQs allowed in Derbyshire Dales Parks?

We do not allow the use of barbecues in our parks as they can damage the grass and remain hot for a considerable time after use. If left unattended, they can be a hazard to other park users and to the wildlife. Please respect your parks.
