Community led housing

What is Community Led Housing?

Community Led Housing is housing provided for the benefit of the local community. It is about local people playing a leading and central role in solving their specific housing problems, creating genuinely long-term, affordable homes.

The community does not necessarily have to initiate and manage the process, or build the homes themselves, but meaningful community engagement occurs throughout the process.

Often, though not always, the local community group or organisation owns, manages or stewards the homes through a mutually supported arrangement with a Housing Association.

Support

We have funding available to help local communities deliver Community Led Housing. The funding can be used towards start-up costs involved with setting up a Community Led Scheme and we can also provide grants or loans towards the cost of the development. It can also be used to support property renovation.
