On Friday 24 February between 10am – 12pm we will be planting 150 trees at our Ashbourne Park, specifically in Fishpond Meadow.
It's a community event and volunteers from the Friends of Ashbourne Park will be taking part. Anyone is welcome to join in – all we ask is that volunteers bring a spade with them if they have one (we will have a few spares).
Funding for the batch of 150 trees is coming from Derbyshire County Council's "Million Tree Project", which aims to plant a million trees by 2030 across the county.
We will be planting alder, field maple, rowan, wild cherry, bird cherry, guelder rose, hawthorn, oak and spindle to create a woodland, adding to the mosaic of wildlife habitats on Fishpond Meadow.
We've chosen the date because it's half term week in Ashbourne and after Shrovetide.
