Derbyshire Dales Illegal Encampment Task Force, chaired by the Police and Crime Commissioner, met yesterday to discuss an unauthorised encampment at Matlock’s Station Car Park.
The site is currently occupied by a local Traveller family to whom the District Council owes a legal duty.
However, legal proceedings are underway and a court order has been applied for to remove additional caravans and their occupants who do not have permission to be at the site.
The Illegal Encampment Task Force, which comprises council leaders, councillors and police officers, only deals with encampments that do not have the owner's permission.
Any further issues should be reported directly to the Council or the Police immediately.
