Join our skate park group

Sixteen-year-old Felix, pictured here, is one of the young people who have signed up to take part in a Matlock skate park group to seek external funding to improve the facility in our Hall Leys Park.

We issued the appeal to local people a month ago after announcing that one of the three sections in the current skate park had come to the end of its life and needed to be removed. That has now happened and the two-section skate park has reopened.

As a council we have devoted hundreds of hours over the years maintaining the skate park, installed almost 20 years ago, spending tens of thousands of pounds in the process.

Currently we have no further funds to replace the section that has to be removed, but we are hopeful that with community support we will be able to apply for external funding.

There's still time to express an interest in the skate park group - particularly if you are a current user - by emailing parks@derbyshiredales.gov.uk.
