The District Council's waste and recycling manager Antonia joined one of four catch up crews operating across the Derbyshire Dales today (Saturday) at the end of week one of the new optimised rounds.
Antonia, who has completed her banksman training and induction on loading bins safely, volunteered as a loader and can be seen here on a catch-up recycling round in Eyam.

She said:
"It's been a long week for everyone involved in the changes. We expected that, but I wanted to see at first hand the challenges our guys are facing, how they are dealing with these, and what we can do as managers to help.
"We can't expect crews to tackle changes without our support.
"Residents are of course having to get used to the changes, but so are the crews, and at the end of week one I want to express my thanks in equal measure to local people and to our bin crews.
"The big message to residents going into week two of the bin changes is please check what type of collection to expect by reading your bin leaflet or going to the online bin calendar.
Antonia added:
"I want to thank all the people working behind the scenes too, including the site supervisors and my team at the Town Hall."Before the crews even hit the streets there’s so much work going in by our team and the supervisors to map everything out each day"
Thank you.
