Floral tributes and Books of Condolence

Here are the designated places in our Derbyshire Dales towns to lay floral tributes to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II:

Ashbourne: Recreation Ground and Memorial Gardens
Bakewell: Bath Gardens
Darley Dale: Whitworth Park (bank below the terrace)
Matlock: The Park Head area in Hall Leys Park
Wirksworth: Memorial Gardens in St John's Street

Flags are flying at half mast at Matlock Town Hall and in our parks in Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock.

The Town Hall is illuminated in purple at night as a mark of respect.

Books of Condolence are available until 5pm on the day after the state funeral, hosted by Ashbourne Town Council (Town Hall), Bakewell Town Council (Town Hall), Darley Dale Town Council (The Whitworth Centre), Matlock Town Council (Imperial Rooms) and Wirksworth Town Council (Town Hall) from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday. A Book of Condolence is also available in the reception area at Derbyshire Dales District Council (Town Hall) from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

On the afternoon of Friday 9 September our Civic Chairman Councillor Graham Elliott, Leader Councillor Garry Purdy and Deputy Leader Councillor Sue Hobson placed flowers by the walkway in Hall Leys Park in tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
