From the Lord-Lieutenant

HM Lord-Lieutenant Elizabeth Fothergill CBE said on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II:
"I join with the whole nation in grief and mourning and particularly with the people of Derbyshire on this most sad day as we mark the passing of our much loved Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II.

"During her 70 year reign and as our longest serving Monarch, she has been the epitome of strength and steadfast commitment to this United Kingdom and to our Commonwealth of Countries since taking her solemn vows back at her Coronation in 1953.

"In all these years she has been unwavering in her faith, her loyalty and sense of duty to our Country helping us all through good and bad times in the last and the present Century.

"I’m sure that you all have your own wonderful memories of her life. During my entire life I have been witness to her remarkable dedication to our way of life, our values and customs, all so nobly and gracefully upheld by Her Majesty The Queen.

"Our condolences also go out to the entire Royal family but especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at this very solemn time for our nation.

"We shall all look back in gratitude for her selfless example and offer our support and loyalty to His Majesty The King."
