Extraordinary Council Meeting, 19 January 2022.



Councillors considered a report on the work that has been undertaken to review the adopted Derbyshire Dales Local Plan.

It advised Members of those aspects of the Local Plan that it is considered will be necessary to modify taking account of an updated evidence base, updated guidance in the National Planning Policy Framework and the National Planning Practice Guidance. The report also outlines a timetable for the next stages of the
review process completion.

The meeting also received a report seeking councillors' approval for the submission of an application to the Secretary of State for Rural Area Designation under s157 of the Housing Act 1985, enabling the opportunity for the council to delivery rural exception affordable housing to those residents in need, rather than First Homes which are unlikely to be as affordable to residents of Derbyshire Dales.

Planning Committee, 8 February 2022.



Applications up for consideration included the change of use and conversion of Matlock's market hall to a mixed use premises comprising a cinema, community hall/meeting space or office, cafe/restaurant or retail use or hot food take-away/drinking establishment.

The Committee also debated a plan for two housing blocks to provide 120 bed spaces, a multifaith centre, siting of a portacabin for parcel storage and the creation of additional car parking at H M Prison Sudbury.

Extraordinary Council Meeting, 17 February 2022.

Councillors unanimously supported an independent review to establish Serco’s performance against the requirements of the disrupted waste and recycling contract here in the Derbyshire Dales. Allen Graham, who was appointed in November by the District Council to undertake the review, had submitted his report and recommendations.

The report [PDF 841KB], which finds there has been “an incomplete delivery of the contract requirements by Serco”, is available to view on the council's website at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/committee 

Mr Graham, a former Chief Executive of Rushcliffe Borough Council and Local Government Association (LGA) Peer Review Chief Executive Lead, attended the 17 February meeting to present his findings and recommendations to the Council.
