How we reacted to the latest flood warnings

The Environment Agency issued Flood Warnings for the River Wye at Litton Mill, Ashford in the Water and Wye Bank and Milford at Bakewell on the evening of Wednesday 8 December.

Flooding was expected for River Wye at Wye Bank and Milford at Bakewell including Wye Bank Grove.

Areas most at risk were Wye Bank, Brook Side, and Milford at Bakewell.

Flooding was also expected for Ashford in the Water around Church Street, including The Duke's Drive and Court Lane, and Litton Mill including Millers Dale.

Further rainfall was forecast overnight. The EA expected river levels to remain high throughout Thursday and are closely monitoring the situation.

Incident response staff patrolled watercourses in the area and the advice to affected householders was please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and have a bag ready with vital items like medicines and insurance documents.

Here's more flooding advice.

Our team was in Bakewell tackling the floods late into the night on Wednesday/Thursday, installing flood boards at the access to the riverside walks in the town centre and using sandbags to help protect at-risk properties in Wye Bank. Here they assisted residents and one of our councillors, Bakewell ward member Mark Wakeman, all of whom were fighting the rising water.

At half past midnight the team moved on to check on properties in Ashford in the Water.
