BINS UPDATE - Thursday 28 October

Good news. Serco and the GMB Union have reached agreement in their pay dispute, which means the end of industrial action.

While we await a statement from the two parties on the details of the resolution, the end of work-to-rule measures means there is now an improved chance of rounds being completed. Catch-up overtime on Saturdays is also now a possibility.

All crews are operating today, but please note that some collections are already a day behind in some parts of the Dales, which means some of today's scheduled collections may not start or may be later than usual. If your scheduled collection has been missed this week please leave out your containers.

As announced at the start of this week, Serco are prioritising any domestic waste collections missed last week, but the re-set from Tuesday means any recycling or garden waste missed last week will not be collected until your next scheduled collection.

Some domestic waste rounds did not complete yesterday but they should be completed today (Matlock/Tansley area). Domestic waste collections scheduled for today will then start, but may be a little later than usual.

Some of the recycling collections due yesterday in the following areas should take place today: Birchover, Elton, Hognaston, Over Haddon, Middleton by Youlgreave, Winster, Youlgreave, Alsop en le Dale, Bradbourne, Brassington, Biggin by Hartington, Hartington, Monyash, Parwich, Thorpe, Tissington

Garden Waste rounds are on schedule except for one of the smaller vehicles, which is running behind.

Obviously there is still a lot of catching up to do. Our hope however, with new drivers starting this week and the end of industrial action, is that serious delays and disruptions are now at an end.
