The toilets have been taken over by a Community Interest Company run by District Councillors Mark Wakeman and Clare Gamble, with the help and support of Little Longstone Parish Meeting and Great Longstone Parish Council, in particular their Clerk Sarah Stokes.
The company have received a start up grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council, together with donations from Little Longstone Parish Meeting and Great Longstone Parish Council.
This has helped with renovations needed to bring the toilets up to scratch. After being closed for a few years, they needed completely re-wiring, new lights, new hand dryers and redecorating.
More work is planned, including new guttering and some tarmacing, but the company are stressing that for the toilets to remain open donations are needed from the public. Donation boxes are in place outside the building.
The company have also set up a Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/monsalhead
