Bakewell Pool reopens on 23 October

Freedom Leisure and Derbyshire Dales District Council are delighted to confirm the reopening of Bakewell Swimming Pool & Gym on Friday 23 October.

The reopening of the centre - closed during the early coronavirus lockdown - is part of a second phase of reopening of facilities across Derbyshire Dales.

The staff team at Bakewell Swimming Pool & Gym are excited to be back and Freedom Leisure say that while things may be a bit different when you return, you can expect the same high levels of service that you have always had.

Freedom Leisure, which operates the centre on behalf of the District Council, has introduced a number of safety measures in line with Government guidance to help customers return to activities in a safe and clean environment. This includes a booking system for all activities, including the swimming pool and fitness suite, and sessions are pre-bookable by contacting the centre directly.

Here's more information on how to access the centre and guidance of what to expect when visiting.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Dales District Council confirmed:
“We have financially supported the leisure centres and their staff from the start of the coronavirus pandemic and have now committed additional funding to enable these fantastic Derbyshire Dales facilities to reopen safely for the benefit of our residents in times that remain challenging and unprecedented.”

Ivan Horsfall-Turner, Managing Director of Freedom Leisure, added:
“Freedom Leisure is delighted to be reopening Bakewell Swimming Pool & Gym on Friday 23rd October. Our team are working hard to make sure the centre is ready and waiting to welcome back the local community, and we look forward to seeing everyone very soon.”
