Armed Forces Day 2020

All of this week we've been flying the Armed Forces Flag at our Matlock Town Hall ahead of Armed Forces Day tomorrow (27 June).

Armed Forces Day is a chance for us to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, ensuring they are appreciated and recognised.

In particular we celebrate our local Mercian Regiment - past and present - and are grateful for all they have achieved this year through their continued commitment and dedication to serve the nation.

Working alongside our NATO partners and other allies, they continue to deliver security at home and abroad. Adaptable and ready, most recently regular and reserve soldiers of The Mercian Regiment have been deployed across the country, assisting with the delivery of self-administered COVID-19 tests to those in need.

Derbyshire Dales District Council has been awarded the Armed Services Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award.

The ERS recognises commitment and support from UK employers for defence personnel. The scheme comprises bronze, silver and gold awards for employers who support those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families.
