Supporting food banks during coronavirus crisis

At the end of another financial year Derbyshire Dales District Council is donating more than £3,000 in unspent grants from 2019/20 to two local food banks.

To assist their vital work in sourcing food supplies during the coronavirus outbreak, Jigsaw Food Bank - based in Matlock - and Elim Church Food Bank in Ashbourne are each receiving £1,597 from the Council's Local Projects Fund.

Each year £900 is allocated to each of the 39 District Councillors to support projects or initiatives in the areas they represent that will benefit local Derbyshire Dales communities.

Applications for 2020/21 are open now and local organisations can apply on our website here.

Applications can be made by local groups that are based within the Derbyshire Dales - such as parish and town councils, young people's organisations and local charities - providing they can demonstrate community benefit.
