BackgroundThe District Council is calling for Expressions of Interest for a building (currently used as a store/shelter and public convenience) and potentially a licence over a small section of land to the front. In leasing this building consideration will be given to an activity that will improve the park facilities and amenity. It is appreciated that work will be required to this building subject to the necessary permissions to repurpose it and continue to make it an attractive feature and facility within the park.
LocationThe location of the building is shown in the plan below. It is on the north-west boundary of the park and is well connected to other areas in the park by footpaths. The park is on the fringe of the town centre and mainly sits within a residential area. The park is bounded by the River Wye on one side and the A6 (Haddon Road) on the other. It is accessible from Bakewell's car parks, including the large car park on the other side of the River Wye (footbridge access) at DDDC's Agricultural Business Centre and the privately operated car park on Smiths Island. The popular Monsal Trail cycleway runs close to the park and can be accessed from the rear of the Agricultural Business Centre via Coombs Road.
