Tideswell Welding Services Ltd (TWS) sought help from Derbyshire Dales Business Advice - operated by your District Council - after buying land at Tideswell Moor to use as the company's base.
Part of the D2N2 Growth Hub, the service - part funded by the District Council and European Regional Development Fund - provides free face to face support for businesses in the Dales wanting to grow.
TWS owner Andrew Bettney (pictured above, fifth from left) who created the business 35 years ago and lives near the site, said:
"Over the years we have expanded and consequently moved to several sites in the Derbyshire Dales and Cheshire, before buying the land where we now operate from.
“We desperately needed to install mains electricity to equip our workshop, which now houses overhead cranes and hi-tech machinery, including a plasma profiler.
“This is where Derbyshire Dales Business Advice Service was invaluable to us. Our advisor, Heather Bradford, really helped us identify how to grow the business. Bringing in mains electricity from over 1km away has brought real efficiencies and the new cranes and cutting machinery have enabled us to expand the range of services we offer.”
The company, which has won enterprise awards, has its own lorry transport, servicing mainly local customers in the construction, agriculture, mining and quarrying industries on site or at the Tideswell Moor workshop. All aspects of general fabrication are undertaken.
The business has grown and now employs people from the local area in a range of roles including welders, platers, lorry drivers and administrative support.
A District Council spokesperson said:
“We are absolutely committed to helping small local businesses develop and grow and are delighted that Tideswell Welding Services have benefited from our free business advice and are doing so well and taking on staff.”Local businesses wanting to grow can contact the District Council for advice on 01629 761330 or email email@example.com
