Yellow weather warning issued for Thursday into Friday

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for heavy rain between 9am this Thursday morning and 3am on Friday, which means further flooding could happen in our area.

The message to anyone who has a property in an at-risk location is:
Yesterday (Tuesday, 12 November) we delivered large quantities of sandbags to three hotspot rural areas - Grindleford, Rowsley and Darley Bridge - and we'll be creating additional sandbag hubs in and around Matlock for those in most need and also at Beeley and Northwood.

However, it makes sense to protect your home or business now by buying sandbags and sand from a local hardware store.

Alternatively, in an emergency, you can use pillow cases, refuse sacks or plastic carrier bags filled with garden soil.

While our workers will always try to help the most vulnerable residents - as we did, last week - this lull between severe weather is an ideal opportunity for local people to help themselves.
