Free walks are a step back to fitness

New short health walks are being launched in Ashbourne every Tuesday from 18 June for local people who want to ease their way back to fitness.

Part of Derbyshire Dales District Council's successful Walking for Health series, the new Tuesday walks are free - and everyone is invited to meet at 10am by the cricket pavilion at the top of Ashbourne Recreation Ground.

Led by qualified walk leaders at a length and pace dictated by the group, the 30-60 minute walks will be followed by a cuppa at a cafe in the town.

The District Council's Walking for Health Coordinator Helen Milton (pictured above) said:
"These very easy walks will enable those wanting to be more active to get out with confidence for as little or as much walking as they want. We hope the new walks will appeal to those who maybe need the reassurance of walking with others or are recovering from issues such as hip surgery."
