The beautiful Derbyshire Dales is the 10th best place to live in the whole of the UK according to an annual survey carried out by the Halifax.
The survey [PDF 925KB] takes account of the housing market, environment, education, health, personal well-being and leisure.
Your District Council works hard in making the Dales a great place to live, work and visit. And we remain committed to maintaining its first class reputation for the benefit of residents and businesses.
The Dales has a high employment rate of 85%, compared to a national average of 75%, and a highly skilled population where 47.4% of adults have a higher level of qualification such as a degree, NVQ level 4 and above or professional qualification, compared to a national average of 38.6%.
Interestingly, we also do well for pubs and bars, with 27 per 10,000 adults!
It was also good this week to see Derby County manager and England footballing legend Frank Lampard giving the thumbs up to the Derbyshire Dales in a post on his Facebook page, which has 2.5 million followers (see below).
