Local residents and businesses are being invited to have their say on a draft document that aims to provide guidance on how new developments can meet the aims and objectives of the recently adopted Derbyshire Dales Local Plan.
- An online consultation on the draft Derbyshire Dales Landscape Character and Design Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) is open from 15 June to 27 July.
The draft document and background information can be viewed on our website here and it sets out to raise awareness of the design issues related to landscape character and provide an important reference point for developers on design standards, ensuring that future development protects or enhances the character and local distinctiveness of the landscape.
An update of the previously adopted 2007 Landscape Character and Design SPD, the new document also aims to protect and enhance the character, appearance and features important in the landscape, to provide detailed guidance on landscape issues to be considered as part of any proposal and to illustrate and encourage good practice.
It also seeks to encourage an integrated approach to development which includes comprehensive consideration of landscape issues.
Anyone with questions about the draft document or the consultation can email the District Council's planning policy team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01629 761240.
