Driving rain didn’t deter six teams that took part in a new challenging event last Friday evening (15 September).
And after a drenching warm-up at picturesque Cromford Meadows, home of Matlock Rugby Club, the sun came out for the first Active Workplace Corporate Games.
Six mixed teams - all work colleagues - tested their skills at five fun sports, tag rugby, ultimate frisbee, sitting volleyball, tug of war and a duathlon bike and rowing challenge in an event organised by your District Council.
Cliff College (pictured above) came out on top, seeing off the challenge of the local YHA’s ‘Run Wragg-ed’ team and the District Council’s own ‘Dales Devils’.
Completing the line-up were the YHA’s ‘Witness the Fitness’ team, plus two teams from McDonald’s, and the evening ended with a bar and barbecue.
The District Council’s Community Fitness Instructor Helen Milton said:
“The Games were a huge success and our thanks go to Matlock Rugby Club for being such welcoming hosts. We will definitely be organising a second Games in the Spring.”
