2016 Illuminations close with grand finale

The 119th Matlock Bath Illuminations season closed last Saturday (29 October), with a Spookfest finale in Derwent Gardens.

The iconic event – organised by your District Council - ran every weekend from 10 September, with the Derwent Gardens and Lovers’ Walks bedecked with colourful lights throughout the season.

In addition to the centrepiece of the Illuminations, the famous parade of decorated boats by the Matlock Bath Venetian Boat Builders' Association, the final night featured Spookfest fancy dress competitions, a spectacular fire show, the Peak FM roadshow, X-Factor singer Christian Burrows, girl group Pink Angel and a fireworks finale.

The District Council aims to attract around 100,000 visitors to Matlock Bath during the Illuminations, extending the village's tourist season and boosting the local economy at no cost to local Council Tax payers.
