Proud to live in a tolerant society

At a recent full meeting of your District Council, members unanimously supported a motion condemning racism, xenophobia and hate crimes.

Proposed by Councillor Mike Ratcliffe, the motion declares:

“We are proud to live in a diverse and tolerant society. Racism, xenophobia and hate crimes have no place in our country.

“We the members of Derbyshire Dales District Council condemn racism, xenophobia and hate crimes unequivocally. We will not allow hate to become acceptable.

“Derbyshire Dales District Council will work to ensure local bodies and programmes have the support and resources needed to fight and prevent racism and xenophobia.

“We reassure all people living in Derbyshire Dales that they are valued members of our community.”
