Active health campaign gathers pace

Our Leisure Services section is now a full member of UK Active, a national organisation driving forward the physical activity and health improvement agenda with government.

Derbyshire Dales leisure staff member Helen Hutchinson, who runs Healthy Hearts exercise classes at the District Council’s Ashbourne Leisure CentreAnd the connection with UK Active, which will oversee National Fitness Day on 7 September this year, will broaden the horizons of the District Council's active lifestyle work in the community and our four leisure centres in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth.

Chairman of the District Council's Community & Environment Committee, Councillor Jo Wild said:

"UK Active is the leading national organisation made up of partners from around the UK who are committed to increasing the nation's levels of physical activity.

"Our partnership with UK Active will enable us to access cutting edge research, training and development opportunities and benchmarking tools that our Leisure Services teams will use to help provide an even better service to our residents via the leisure centres and outreach in communities through the work of our Sports Development team."

A spokesman for UK Active said:
