Our apologies, but this year's Summer of Sport event at Carsington Water - scheduled for this coming Sunday, 19 July - has been cancelled after most of the participating local clubs dropped out.
Volunteers promoting the efforts of local sporting organisations have always played a big part in the annual free event (also known as Village Games), which is organised jointly by the District Council and Village Games Derbyshire.
But all but one regular club has cancelled this time around.
A District Council spokesperson said:
"We as organisers have set high standards for this event in recent years and we don't want to disappoint regular visitors by offering far fewer activities than normal. We've therefore decided to cancel this year's event and will re-group to see what can be done to revive things in 2016."
