Snow update - 21 January

Despite the overnight snow, Derbyshire Dales District Council's recycling crews have left the depot at Longcliffe – later than usual - and are currently heading for today's collections in and around Matlock, Tansley and Starkholmes.

Scheduled domestic waste collections are still on hold due to road conditions in and around Winster, Tissington, Parwich, Hartington and Youlgrave.

Matlock in the snow on 21 Jan 2015All four of the District Council's leisure centres in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth opened on schedule this morning, but care is advised on all approach roads.

The District Council's clean and green team are currently gritting town centre pavements and clearing snow. Last night we filled our depot vehicles with grit and fitted ploughs ready for the snow forecast - key staff were sent home in 4x4 vehicles to ensure service continuity. Please note Derbyshire Dales District Council is not responsible for gritting roads - that task is carried out by Derbyshire County Council.

Later today the District Council will be looking to clear Ashbourne Market Place of any ice and snow in preparation for Thursday's scheduled stall market.
