We have partnered up with The Northern Light Cinema, Matlock Town Council and Hecate Arts to bring you a weekend of FREE entertainment at Hall Leys Park in Matlock.

Gates open at 6pm with music, food and drink before the film which will start at around 8.30pm or whenever it is dark enough.

Radio Free Matlock will broadcast live from the bandstand from 10-12noon on the day
The event in the award-winning town centre park is made possible by the 'Welcome Back Fund', which uses European Regional Development Fund cash provided by the Government to help high streets recover from the pandemic.
What time will the event start?
The Friday night screening will start approximately 30 minutes after sunset , which will be around 8.30 to 9pm on this date. This is however dependant on when the natural light levels are sufficiently low. Gates will open at 6pm.
Saturday activities start at 12 noon with an Artisan Market and family friendly workshops finishing at 5pm. Gates open at 5pm for the live music, food and drink stalls
What happens in bad weather?
The screening will still go ahead in rainy weather conditions and are never cancelled more than 24 hours ahead of the screening time as the weather can change rapidly. The screening will only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions e.g. high winds.
Can I bring a disposable BBQ?
Barbecues, fireworks and bonfires are strictly not allowed on Hall Leys Park.
Can I smoke at the event?
Smoking is not permitted within the event area. We ask visitors who wish to smoke to move outside the enclosed area, out of respect for other audience members. Please note this also applies to e-cigarettes.
What should I wear?
The event is held outdoors in Hall Leys Park so please ensure you wear appropriate clothing but also feel free to embrace the film theme and dress in fancy dress! Please bear in mind that it can get chilly later in the evenings so make sure you bring something warm to wrap up in as it is the Great British weather after all!
Will food and drink be available on site?
There will be food stalls and a bar within the event area. You are welcome to bring your own picnics and alcohol, but please do not bring any glass bottles or glasses.
Can I bring tables and chairs?
Our event is located on the grass area of Hall Leys Park. Please bring your own low backed chairs or a picnic blanket to sit on. We ask that you don’t bring any tables.
What do I do with my rubbish after the event?
When the event ends please ensure that you put your rubbish in bags and take it with you. However there will be rubbish bags situated around the area for any litter. Please do not leave your litter this on the floor.
What else should I bring?
It is strongly advised that you bring a torch and some blankets as it can get cold in the evenings.
I have specific access requirements, will I be able to attend?
The whole area of Hall Leys Park is accessible to all, however please ensure you do bring your own seating if required.
Where can I purchase tickets?
You can purchase tickets through this webpage www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/welcomebackweekend from Monday 2 August. Tickets are free of charge.
Can children attend?
On the Friday evening the screening is Mama Mia which is PG. This event will finish at around 10.30pm. On the Saturday we have family friendly workshops in the daytime which we would love children to get involved in.
