What is Balanceability?
Balanceability is the UK's first accredited 'learn-to-cycle' programme for children aged 2½ to 6-years-old. During the 6 session programme we will use a variety of fun games and activities to help improve the children’s balance, fine motor skills, gross motor skills and confidence. Which will all be used to progress the children from standing to a balance bike.
A balance bike is a lightweight child's bike, without pedals, which facilitates balance and propulsion. Children run along whilst seated, push off the ground to create forward movement and use a combination of their feet and hand-operated brake to slow and stop safely.
Derbyshire Dales District Council have a number of trained Balanceability instructors who often run sessions across the Dales. These sessions range from taster sessions to blocks of 6 weeks. All equipment is provided but feel free to bring a helmet from home as it helps the children to be more comfortable.
Up Coming SessionsWe have a block of 4 balanceability sessions. All sessions will be 1pm to 1.45pm on Tuesdays; 18/06, 25/6, 02/07, 09/07 More information about this block of sessions can be found here:
