Thinking of starting a business?  Got an idea but not sure how to start?  If you are based in the Derbyshire Dales, you can take advantage of business support and training from a number of different sources.

Vision Derbyshire

The Vision Derbyshire programme was established in 2019 and is a shared commitment across Derbyshire County Council and district and borough councils to drive forward efficiency and effectiveness improvements in the way the authorities work together.

As part of this programme, start up business up to a year old can benefit from one to one advice from a new Business Adviser, Russell Harrison.

D2 Business Starter Programme; run a series of pre start sessions across Derbyshire; they also have drop in sessions where you can meet with a business advisor; see the website for more details.

The next programme begins on 8 September 2021 and features 9  themed sessions over 2 months, providing individuals with the necessary building blocks needed to start a business:

Start up funding opportunities; grants and loans

NBV Grant for New Business supports start up businesses based in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire that are registered with Companies House or HMRC and ready to start selling to other businesses. Grants of between £1000 and £2500 are available, up to a maximum of 25% of eligible costs, and can be used to purchase services or equipment to help you launch your new business. Visit
