The Department for International Trade, in partnership with Derbyshire Economic Partnership and Destination Chesterfield, are offering this free half-day workshop to help you to create an action plan for an international digital strategy. About the workshop:

An effective digital presence enables you to identify potential customers, understand their needs and behaviours and establish a way of managing traffic, wither to grow brand awareness, facilitate customer research into your products or services or attract new customers and leads.

Rural Development Programme for England Workshop - Monday 16th December 2019 10 am - 11.30am 

The Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) Growth Programme has opened a new call under the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

Rural businesses across D2N2 can benefit from a further guaranteed £35 million worth of funding to creat new jobs, boost tourism and unlock growth in rural areas.

The new call will provide grants of between £20,000 and £750,000 for rural businesses to construct or improve buildings, purchase new equipment and machinery to grow their business or open up opportunities for tourism.

There are 3 types of grant:
  • Business development
  • Food processing
  • Rural tourism infrastructure

To support rural businesses across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire make the most of these opportunities the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership and the D2N2 Growth Hub will be holding 2 workshops, one of which will be in Notts and the other at the ABC in Bakewell.

How to Protect Your Business and Increase your Business Potential - 21 January 2020 8am - Noon Agricultural Business Centre Bakewell

Delivered by Dr Mark Houghton, UK & European Patent Attorney and CEO of Patent Outsourcing as well as Andrew Scott; ex R&D Executive Director for Bostick WE, this free event will highlight key benefits of protecting your business through the use of Intellectual Property and Research and Development.  The event will include..

Mark Houghton will be presenting on the importance of Intellectual Property (IP) as a commercial tool in your business.  The presentation will explain the benefits and different types of IP protection which are suitable for your business and how competitors may use IP against you.

Andrew Scott will be presenting a talk on the Idea Creativity process, the front end of innovation.  Why asking the right question is so important and a methodology to identify, nurture and develop ideas.  The talk will also discuss the benefits of using an expert facilitator to help provide the best outcome from an Ideation session.  The talk will be interactive and therefore questions are welcome and there will be an opportunity to talk with Andrew separately at the end of the seminar.

There will also be 2 shorter sessions covering funding opportunities for businesses and exporting support and tips delivered by Heather Bradford, Business Advisor at Derbyshire Dales District Council and Kathryn Borg from the Department of International Trade.
