Consultation on Statement of Community Involvement 2018
14th September – 26th October 2018
Section 18 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004) (as amended) requires that the District Council prepare a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).
The purpose of the SCI is to explain to local communities and stakeholders how they will be involved in the preparation, alteration and review of Local Plans and also in the determination of planning applications. Local planning authorities are also required to set out in the SCI their policies for giving advice or assistance to neighbourhood planning groups and their policies for involving communities and other interested parties in the preliminary stages of plan making.
The current SCI was brought into effect in March 2016, at a time when the District Council was preparing the now Adopted Derbyshire Dales Local Plan. Whilst elements of the existing SCI continue to remain up to date, a review of the document has been undertaken and a revised SCI prepared to reflect statutory requirements and best practice.
