Kirk Ireton Conservation Area Appraisal

Kirk Ireton Conservation Area is predominantly a rural area, the whole of the village being set within a much wider landscape setting.

Furthest north is Blythe House on Moor Lane and furthest to the south is Field Farm on Field Lane.

The original designation of Kirk Ireton Conservation Area was in August 1971 and the Conservation Area boundary was amended in November 1992. In 2014 a comprehensive Conservation Area Character Appraisal was undertaken for Kirk Ireton Conservation Area and a Draft Appraisal produced in January 2015. This document explored the origins and development of Kirk Ireton including the architectural and historic quality of the village; the setting of the area; the landscape; the character of the buildings and their relationship with the associated spaces; the neutral and negative factors which impact on the area, the general condition, policy and legislation in a conservation area and finally reviewed the Conservation Area boundary. The final document will help to guide future development within the Conservation Area and to preserve or enhance that special character.
