Hoben International Ltd, formerly known as Hoben Minerals, operate a mineral drying and cooling process under section 3.5 of the Environmental Permitting Regulations. The installation is situated near Brassington.
The installation receives raw materials in bulk and bagged form, which are stored in silos and under cover in buildings. Raw materials may be subjected to processes in different plants which are described below. Four plants:
- No 1 Grading Plant (currently inactive)
- No 2 Grading Plant
- No 3 Grading Plant
- the Ball Mill
Minerals are reduced in size, followed by separation into different size fractions.
There are two point source emissions to atmosphere, from the No 1 grading plant and the calciner drying plant associated with the Ball Mill. Emissions testing is undertaken annually to demonstrate compliance with the emission limit of 50 mg/m3.
