The District Council is proud to host the historic Shrovetide lunches at our Ashbourne Leisure Centre. However it does mean some disruption to activities from 11-15 February.
Around 500 people will be in the sports hall for the lunches on Tuesday and Wednesday (12 and 13 February).
The Shrove Tuesday lunch features the first showing of this year's Shrovetide Ball, which then leaves the leisure centre to be turned up at our Shaw Croft car park at 2pm for the game to begin.
The Leisure Centre will close earlier than usual on both Tuesday and Wednesday - 6pm rather than 10pm - and there are no morning fitness classes Monday - Friday.
Evening fitness classes are operating on Monday, although with limited spaces, and both Zumba classes operate on Thursday, but not Boxercise. All evening classes on Friday 15 February will operate as normal.
The main and minor halls are unavailable Sunday to Wednesday to accommodate caterers, tables, chairs and all the infrastructure for the three-course Shrovetide lunches. All regular users and clubs have been informed.
The Swimming Pool, Fitness Suite and Squash Courts are open as normal next week (apart from early closing on Tuesday and Wednesday. All evening and Saturday morning Swimming Lessons will run at normal times, but there are no daytime Ducklings next week.
