Candidates named for top police role

The candidates standing in November's election of a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Derbyshire Police Area have been announced.

Police tapeThe candidates are Alan Frank Charles (Labour Party) of Killamarsh; David Gale (UKIP) of Alvaston, Derby; Rod Hutton (Independent) of Ripley; Simon Andrew Spencer (Conservative) of Roston, Ashbourne.

They had until 12 noon on Friday 19 October to be nominated to run in the election, which will take place on Thursday, 15 November 2012.  Since nominations closed, Charles Swabey (Independent), of Osmaston, Ashbourne, has withdrawn from the contest.

The official Statement of Persons Nominated [PDF 17KB] will be displayed on public notice boards and on Council web sites no later than Tuesday 26 October.
