Biggest week of new recycling service
- Monday, 08 October 2012 11:35
All 33,000 homes in the Derbyshire Dales will receive their new recycling containers by the end of this week.
New recycling collections are already underway, and local people are urged to check our collection calendar they receive with their new bins or use the online postcode search.
Residents can also find a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) online, together with a video and remaining dates for the District Council's touring roadshow.
This week is the most challenging of the District Council's new waste and recycling service, with new rounds starting in half of the Derbyshire Dales.
Half of the Dales received new recycling containers last week and their new collections start this week - with many households on a new collection day.
The other half of the Dales receives its new recycling containers this week with their new collections starting next week.
With a combination of old rounds, new rounds and the continuing delivery of new bins, this week is the most complex in the roll-out of the new service.
A District Council spokesperson said:
"The message from the District Council is please bear with us this week. In some areas collections are likely to be later than usual, so please don't report a 'missed' collection until the next day.
"This is a massive change for residents, for the District Council and for our new contractor Serco Ltd, but the end result will be that Derbyshire Dales people can recycle more at home than ever before in a service change that saves local Council Tax payers £385,000 a year."

On Tuesday new rounds started in Bonsall, Cromford, Lea Bridge, Matlock Bath, Whatstandwell and the other part of Wirksworth.
