Watch the video!

With delivery of new recycling containers just days away, our explanatory video is available for Derbyshire Dales residents to view .

The new blue-lid recycling bin will be delivered to most homes in the Dales from the start of October The video pops up via this link, where you can also find Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about changes to our waste and recycling collections that mean you will be able to recycle more than ever before.

The new containers being delivered to most households across the Derbyshire Dales from the start of October are our food caddies (food waste will be collected weekly) and a new blue-lid recycling bin in which you can recycle tins, cans, glass bottles and jars, foil trays, aerosols, beverage cartons, plastic bottles and containers.

An insert that fits into the top section of the blue-lid bin is for paper and cardboard (you can continue to use your blue bag to recycle additional paper and cardboard.

The small number of Dales properties that currently use black sacks because they cannot accommodate wheeled bins will be able to recycle using a blue box (for cans, glass, aerosols, beverage cartons and foil trays) and two blue bags, one for paper and cardboard and the other for plastic bottles and containers.

The new recycling containers will be delivered with detailed instructions and a collection calendar informing you of your collection day (all collections by the District Council's new contractor Serco will be made on the same day of the week, but note your current day may change).

The (larger) kerbside and kitchen food caddiesFood waste will be collected weekly.  One week it will be collected with your existing grey household waste bin (or black sacks) and the following week your food caddy waste will be collected with your green-lid garden waste bin (or compostable garden waste sack) and new blue-lid bin (or blue box and bags).

  • Remember, our recycling roadshow is currently touring Dales towns and villages. Check the dates.
