It's happy birthday to us as Derbyshire Dales District Council's fabulous Arc Leisure Matlock celebrates celebrates being one year old on Friday 24 August.
At 12 noon on 24 August 2011 the £12-million attraction opened its doors to the public for the first time – and since then Arc has recorded an amazing 350,000 visits.
A few surprises are planned on the first anniversary day and, as a special treat, Discount Duck holders will be able to swim for free.
The official opening of Arc took place on 21 October last year when Lord Sebastian Coe did the honours before going on to mastermind the successful XXXth Olympiad.
Lord Coe said at the time:
"With just 280 days to go until the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games it is a privilege to formally open such an impressive leisure centre for the Derbyshire Dales and wider East Midlands community. I really would be hard pushed to tell you I have been to a leisure centre that has melded into a community and environment as well as this has."
Get down to Arc on 24 August to play a part in the birthday celebrations!
