The Election of Councillors to Derbyshire County Council will take place on Thursday 4 May 2017.
There are six County Council Divisions within Derbyshire Dales and one Councillor will be elected for each of these.
Candidates and Agents
Prospective candidates and their agents are invited to a Briefing on Tuesday 28 March 2017. This will be held in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Bank Road, Matlock DE4 3NN at 6.00pm and will provide information on processes and procedures relating to nominations, the election campaign, expenses and election day. The Briefing will be based on the Electoral Commission Guidance for candidates, which you can see here, but will also cover local arrangements. Anyone who will be, or is considering becoming, a candidate or agent is strongly encouraged to attend. The presentation associated with the Briefing is available here.

Prospective candidates and agents can download a nomination pack here. Nominations must be delivered in person to The Town Hall Matlock, DE4 3NN on working days between 10am and 4pm from Monday 27 March - 4 April 2017. Prospective candidates and agents are encouranged to make an appointment for delivery and informal checking of their nomination papers by ringing 01629 761335.

Register to vote
If you are not currently on the electoral register you need to complete your application by Thursday 13 April 2017 to be able to vote in this election. On line applications can be made at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote - you will need to have your National Insurance number to hand. Postal / Proxy Votes
If you are registered to vote but are likely to be away from home on 4 May 2017 you can apply for a postal or proxy vote. The deadlines for applications are shown below but please apply as soon as possible to ensure early delivery of your postal vote.
