Area Community Forums
Derbyshire Dales District Council recently held Forums in March 2012 at Parwich, Bakewell and Tansley.
The Forums provide an opportunity for residents to meet representatives of the District Council and other organisations, to ask questions and air views. Anyone who couldn't attend in person was able to participate via a live Twitter link.
The agenda included information on the free independent advice service created by Derbyshire Dales District Council, providing face to face support for businesses in the Dales wanting to grow. As well as District Council officers, Heather Bradford (professional business adviser who is running the Derbyshire Dales Business Advice) attended along with local businessmen who have been supported by local schemes to set up or expand their enterprise. By telling their own success stories, these entrepreneurs showed local people how they can grow a business in the Derbyshire Dales.
Consulting on its draft priorities for its Health and Wellbeing Strategy was the subject of Derbyshire County Council's presentation.
A variety of issues were raised in the popular Question Time session including off road / Green Lane activities, affordable housing, refuse & recycling, local transport, police resources, traffic management and Matlock Town Centre redevelopment.
The next round of Forums will take place in July – dates and venues have yet to be finalised.
