The Chairman of the District of Derbyshire Dales, Councillor Steve Flitter, invites nominations for the 2018 Community Awards.
Do you know someone in Derbyshire Dales who deserves recognition for the work that they do in their local community? They may be the driving force behind a local organisation or an individual who goes out of their way to help others or improve local facilities or the environment.
The people we want to hear about are those who “make the wheels go round”, without previous recognition of their efforts or expectation of reward.
If your nominee is chosen for an award Councillor Flitter hopes to present them with a certificate at a local event that involves those who benefit from their work. If a suitable event cannot be identified they will be invited to meet Councillor Flitter at the Town Hall in Malock.
- Make your nomination here or request a nomination form by calling 01629 761375. You will need to give your details, the name and address of your nominee and a description of why you feel that they are deserving of this award. Please note that both you and the person you are nominating must live in the Derbyshire Dales.
The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 28 February 2018.
About the role of civic chairman
The Chairman of the District of the Derbyshire Dales is elected at the annual meeting of the council and serves for a civic year.
The Chairman of the District of the Derbyshire Dales wears a ceremonial chain of office at official engagements and generally represents the District Council at around 100 functions throughout the year, organising special fund-raising events for nominated charities.
The role of Chairman of the District of the Derbyshire Dales is different from that of Chairman of the District Council, which is a more strategic leadership role.
