Don't put up with it, report it!
Abandoning a vehicle is illegal and dangerous and ruins the appearance of your neighbourhood. Don't put up with it: report it.
If the vehicle is reported it can be removed and, with your help, the crime can be investigated. Offenders who abandon vehicles can be liable to a Fixed Penalty Notice of £300 or a maximum fine of £2,500.
We have a duty to remove motor vehicles that have been unlawfully abandoned, but the law does not define exactly what it means by the word "abandoned". When considering whether or not a vehicle is abandoned we will take into account factors such as whether or not it is taxed, how long it has been at its current location and its condition.
We do not deal with vehicles illegally, obstructively or dangerously parked. These are matters for the police and traffic wardens.
If you believe a vehicle to be abandoned please contact us at:

(opens in a new window) The details you provide will be passed to one of our environmental health technicians who will check the keeper details with Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and inspect the vehicle.
Unless the vehicle is clearly dangerous we will try to contact the keeper before serving notice and arranging for the vehicle's removal in order to give them the opportunity to remove it.
