Matlock Bath Illuminations is a fun-packed family event featuring a spectacular parade of illuminated and decorated boats along the River Derwent on Saturday and Sunday evenings in September and October starting on 10 September.
Matlock Bath Venetian Boat Builders' Association decorate themed models with an array of coloured lights. The models are mounted on rowing boats and paraded on the River Derwent each Saturday and Sunday down in Derwent Gardens, giving a unique and illuminous display. The boats can only be viewed upon admission into the gardens.
2015, saw Micky’s Steam Boat win first prize rowing up and down the River Derwent along with 9 other spectacular decorated and illuminated boats.
There will be a fantastic firework display every Saturday evening from 17th September, which will see the sky around Matlock Bath lit up in multi-colours. The firework display will begin at 9.00pm with the best viewing positions being on the Bandstand area of Derwent Gardens.
Sunday evenings will be themed family fun evenings, with activities and crafts for all the family to join in, situated down in the Derwent Gardens.

Fireworks nights in 2016 take place every Saturday evening from 17 September through to 29 October.
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the Illuminations, but owners should be aware that the fireworks at 9pm on Saturday are loud and can cause distress to some animals. Here's some advice from the RSPCA on pets and fireworks.
